Creating a chiropractic care plan is like building a house – you must construct the building in the right order to create a strong and sturdy structure. If you put up the walls of a house before you lay a solid foundation, for example, your home would be weak, wobbly, and eventually collapse. Jumping into construction without a blueprint leads to haphazard results.
You could say the same thing about chiropractic care. Your body must go through the right stages of healing in the correct order to create a strong and sturdy body foundation. Instead of brick and mortar, however, chiropractic care creates a strong structure with the help of spinal decompression, laser therapy, and physiological therapeutics.
Chiropractic care plans reflect the sequence of healing events that must take place for you to experience optimal health and healing through chiropractic care. Optimal chiropractic care occurs in three general phases.
Our first objective is to relieve pain and other symptoms that prevent you from working, going to school, or participating in your favorite hobbies. Aside from pain, symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, and fatigue can reduce the strength and sturdiness of your body’s foundation.
Proper symptoms relief begins with a thorough chiropractic evaluation, including a detailed report of your personal health history. A comprehensive chiropractic examination comes next, including reflex and flexibility testing, neurological, orthopedic, postural, physical tests, and x-rays. You will talk with our chiropractor about your health-related issues and concerns, as well as discuss your treatment options.
Depending on the cause of your symptoms and their severity, you can expect to receive care two to three times per week for 4 to 12 weeks.
The corrective/restorative phase occurs next, after symptoms are faded or completely gone. Its focus is to prevent further injury and optimize the body’s own healing environment. The corrective/restorative phase gives your muscles, joints, and other tissues the time they need to heal more completely. This phase also reduces the risk for flare-ups and relapses that can occur in many conditions.
Depending on your condition and overall health, you can expect to participate in corrective/restorative treatments four to eight times each month, for 6-24 months. You may be able to start exercises and stretches in our chiropractor’s office and, eventually, at home.
The third phase begins once your body has healed fully. Wellness care is the equivalent of regular maintenance and upkeep on a building. This phase allows your body to move from a recovery mode to overall fitness and health.
Wellness care includes periodic chiropractic adjustments that help you avoid future problems in the affected area. This phase usually requires only quick visits to our chiropractor one to four times a month, depending on your lifestyle and your treatment outcome goals.
