Charlotte Laser Therapy at Omni Wellness

Charlotte chiropractic and Laser Therapy Cold laser therapy, or soft laser therapy, is a multifaceted form of treatment that is useful for chronic pain, whether it is back or neck pain or the symptoms of fibromyalgia.  We currently provide this option for therapy to our chiropractic patients that are suffering chronic or recurring pain. We at Omni Wellness Center in Charlotte, NC have found that it is particularly effective in treating bursitis and other joint related problems, especially in the hips and shoulders.  It also has applications that are similar to acupuncture, but without using needles.

Laser Pain Relief at Our Charlotte Clinic

Laser therapy uses a combination of low level lasers ranging from about 660 nm to 900 nm to treat a variety of soft tissue problems, including acute and chronic pain, muscle strain, tennis elbow, tendonitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, soft tissue injuries, Bursitis, arthritis, decreasing fibrous tissue and scars, ligament sprains, fibromyalgia, and some forms of back pain.  Our chiropractor, Dr. Darcey Ladner, has seen the positive benefits of this non-invasive treatment for neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain and pain in the extremities in her own patients.

Laser therapy works by emitting photons into the painful tissue, which increases cellular and subcelluar activity. This provides pain relief and further promotes the healing process. The photons stimulate the mitochondria in the cells to increase the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which increases the reactive oxygen species, alters redox signaling, which affects the proliferation of cells. The net result is that it reduces inflammation and promotes healing of the damaged and irritated tissue, as well as new, healthy cells.

The specific intensity of laser treatments depends largely on how deep the injury is.  At 660 nm, the therapy is treating the most superficial level--just below the surface of the skin.  This is primarily for its use as a non-invasive form of acupuncture and shallow soft tissue damage.  Reaching 875 nm, the laser goes deeper into the tissue, with the maximum depth at 900 nm being at 4 to 5 inches deep.

Laser Pain Relief at Omni Wellness Center Charlotte NCWhile laser treatments increase cellular proliferation, they can also prohibit and decrease the formation of fibrous and scar tissue. Ordinary cuts and scrapes, as well as surgical incisions, can be healed without scarring by this method. It can also be used to eliminate numbness and tingling from extremities by increasing nerve function.  Many incidents of back pain and neck pain are caused by interrupted nerve signals, which can be alleviated by this type of therapy.

Our Charlotte chiropractor, when using this treatment, will use it over the course of a few visits.  Healing these soft tissue related problems takes time, even on the accelerated level that laser treatments provide.  However, since this form of treatment is non-invasive, your back pain and neck pain can be treated and you can go home or return to work in between visits, since there is no "recovery time."
